Steering Lock on my Mk5

Recommended Posts

Been a while since i went in to have a look at my Mk5 , thought id try to get her moved to a secure location, only one problem, i cannot get the steering lock off. The key goes in but will not turn to get the steering lock off. . I tried a few harsh movements with the steering wheel whilst trying to turn the key but to no avail.

I had to pull her out of my garage and literally drag the car around with steel chains wrapped around the wheels and pull her with my Discovery to get her lined up with my newer secure garage.

Any ideas how to undo the steering lock without having to damage it? I gave it a good squirt of penetrating oil down the keyhole and hope that may release it but any ideas will be appreciated

Try waggling the key in all directions Inc in & out.

If all else fails remove the complete housing & send it with key & I'll probably be able to sort it.
