AndrewGT 2 Posted November 25, 2023 Hi, just bought a standard airflow GT air filter case. Please can someone let me.know or post picture of how lid should be held on? Is it studs and nuts with spacers or long bolts with spacers? Thanks
AndrewGT 2 Posted November 25, 2023 Also, if anyone has a spare filter element lying about, diameter and height please.
SusanButcher 33 Posted November 26, 2023 (edited) That''s the early version. After December 1963 the lid was held on with two bolts. But the later one has the same arrangement of two crossbars and four nuts spacers and grommets holding it to the long studs on top of the Weber. AndrewGT 2 Posted November 26, 2023 Thanks. So 2 x bolts presumably with spacers to prevent lid being bent??
SusanButcher 33 Posted November 26, 2023 I guess that's it. It also simplifies the lower part of the cleaner, with the two bolts going into threads cut directly into the metal, and no bracket interrupting the air flow.
AndrewGT 2 Posted November 27, 2023 Thanks very much.
SusanButcher 33 Posted December 8, 2023 I've measured the size of the filter I use in my GT air cleaner: inside diameter 18cm, outside diameter 23.5cm, height 5cm. This isn't an original Ford filter, it was an altered Mazda unit, but it fits well.
