Wheel stud/nut thread size

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've acquired a set of R/S alloys that I'm hoping to use on my MK5 estate and 67 Corsair. I need some deeper wheel nuts to suit and hoping to get one set that fits both cars.

So the question is, does anyone know the thread size for both cars wheel studs/nuts? I'm thinking 7/16 unf but I have no thread gauges to check with.

Thanks in advance of any help.

Ta. Tim

Yes those are the wheel type. I'm looking to use them as temporary swaps so I can refurbish the original wheels on both cars. I thought the Cortina would be metric but (unreliable check your vehicle suitability on Ebay) built my hopes up, I should know better.

Haven't tried yet to see if the Cortina nuts hold them safely, but getting two sets of suitable nuts is not the end of the world.

Thanks to all.

NUTS!

The nuts for these wheel are tapered, with a free spinning tapered washer image.jpeg.b26e839f75e59ea75e995fed0e8f460a.jpeg

If I remember rite, the nuts were also fitted to the carpi ghia ally wheels .

What you could do is knock out a stud, and see if it fits into the cortina?

Edit

IF THE WHEELS ARE RS2000? Theses HAVE A FLAT WASHER

I think I have found a source for both size nuts so hopefully sorted.

I found I had one of the nuts in your pic in my wheel nut box, no idea where it came from or why there is only one, but it gave me the means to make sure I get the correct ones for the Cortina.

You can swap imperial & metric stufs the spline is a different size too.

Some RSv4:spokes require the flat type with washer ( definitely the MK1 escort these are correct style for MK3 cortina where as the fiesta supersport is correct one for MK4/5).

Thanks, I'm not wanting to change studs so hoping I have found nuts to work with the wheels on both cars.

I have got another set of alloys I have had on the Corsair which took the original nuts with no probs. Pic below
