Olsmokey 0 Posted April 19, 2024 How do the dash back lights work on a pre-facelift mk3 Cortina? Are they meant to just come on with the headlights? All bulbs checked, just can't figure it out, cheers
John Mack 310 Posted April 19, 2024 If there is a dimmer switch could this be the problem ?
sheffieldcortinacentre 658 Posted April 19, 2024 No prefacelift just come one with the lights.( No dimmer). It's the grey/yellow wire the bulb holders circuit board can by know give poor contact. The one for clock in my estate works when it feels like it. It can be hard to fix as good circuit boards are harsh to find ( their over 50 years old now) Sometimes only cure is to run/solder wires between them . Olsmokey 0 Posted April 20, 2024 Thanks for clearing that up, the circuit board looked extremely mint, I will inspect again but I'm now thinking it could be the wire/connection to the light switch causing the issue
sheffieldcortinacentre 658 Posted April 20, 2024 On prefacelift the stalk can cause problems. Again check the grey/yellow wire that's the live feed. Red is permanent live , Black live with ignition on, Brown is earth. Also check the main cluster plug. The fuse nearest screen can give light problems but usually with no dipped beam.
