deltamal 37 Posted May 15, 2024 The steering on my Mk5 Crusader estate has been heavy since Iv'e had the car, I guess the wider wheels and tyres dont help, so I bought and have had fitted an" Easysteer" electric kit, the difference is amazing! like driving a different car, not cheap but makes it better to drive in my old age! Tigdlo 27 Posted May 15, 2024 Was it straightforward to fit?

deltamal 37 Posted May 15, 2024 I had it fitted by a classic car company in Dorset, as I can not manage work on the car anymore, Easysteer make the bespoke kits to order for most classics, really good, the only downside is that you loose the air vent on the right hand side, worth it though! MK5CortinaEstate 52 Posted May 16, 2024 Doesn't surprise me that you lose that vent. The duct to actually flattens out to pass the thin standard steering column. Put something chunky in there, and it simply can't get past it. I was tempted to go this route, but I've got a roll cage tube running just below the column, so it would really struggle to fit. Fortunately, my steering doesn't seem to be too heavy, except when doing low speed maneuvering.
deltamal 37 Posted May 22, 2024 I've found that the steering gets heavier the older I get!
