Mk3 1600 Speedometer - inaccurate

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Is there anywhere that repairs Cortina speedometers - mine is reading 12 MPH at 30 MPH. Even considering I probably have the wrong drive gear fitted on the 5 speed box this seems way out.

Or is it possible to calibrate them somehow?. The odometer was seized but managed to get that going with some wd-40.

Thanks in anticipation of any replies.

Cheaper to get another £15 Inc p&p.

It's probably misreading that much due to seizure , the type 9 in a 1.6 usually to far out (unfortunately you can't get one to match the 1.6 cortina diff).

Let me have a pick of which Speedo you have, should be one with tripmeter being an XL.

No, you’d need fewer teeth to drive the speedo faster
