Mk1 cortina 1500 pre crossflow vacuum.

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, can anyone tell me where the vacuum pipe from the a servo connects to the inlet manifold please? i know the servo will not improve the brake performance, but im getting old and i would like a softer brake pedal. There is a flat head grub screw on the inlet manifold, is this where the vacuum pipe goes?

Thanks, Andy.

A nos Fomoco inlet manifold for a Ford MK1 Cortina | eBay      Do you have this type of manifold Andy ? The cars with a webercarb pretty much all have a take off but that type in the advert  only appears to have that threaded take off and if thats all there is , I would think that it would be usable if you can find an adaptor .

Hi mk2sav, thanks for that, yes that's the type of manifold that I have, the flat head grub screw that's on my one probably has never been removed since it was fitted. I guess I should use some heat to try and remove it. Pity we don't know which thread it is, but I'm sure something will fit it. Should be ok I guess and like you said, that's probably the only option.

Just been reading on forums and it seems most tend to drill and tap a thread into the manifold if you have the tools available ?? Steve.

Depending on which type of carb/manifold you have there are block gaskets that sit between the two with a brass pipe coming off them, or you could make one easy enough.

Thanks steve, I will probably go down that route as it's going to be impossible to get the grub screw out. I was look ING for examples online of the method you described, but I can't find anything.

Thanks Lotuscops, this is the manifold I have, i made an adaptor plate and fitted an autolite carburetor from a mk2

Escort, a few years ago. It was a brand new carburetor, (nos) I guess I'm better off going the drilling/tapping route Which size of drilling hole/tap would you recommend I use?
