Mk3 difference between stick out of front and rear wheels

I think I can remeber reading somewhere that the mk3 Cortina front wheels sit out slightly wider than the rears, can anyone back that up? Also if that's true does anyone know what that difference is?...

Seems front & rear track is listed as 56 inches  ( wheel centre to centre).

Yep , I thought they were slightly different must be Capri or one of the others.

Body is slightly wider at the rear i think, makes it look like a wider track,or different wheel offset.

Up to around 25 years ago, most cars had a wider front track than the rear. There were a few exceptions, I believe the Escort mk1 and 2 were so.

I got the front suspension mounted and measured up today and yes your right, the wheel arches on the back are slightly wider than the fronts which is why the front wheels look like they stick out further

Easy to check,plumb bob from the arch to the floor ,mark the floor roll. The car out of the way and measure.

Mine measures 1675mm wide at the front,and 1695mm wide at the rear.

Some front wings may vary a small amount, but the rear of the body less likely,unless there has been accident damage,or poor quality repair to the rear arches.

 

sales brochure gives one width of 67.1” (1704.34) which would include the bumpers .
