Mk5 South African No Fog Light Wiring???

Recommended Posts

Chaps...

in my quest to sort these rear lights on the SA Mk5 i pulled the wiring connectors off and noticed no wiring to the fog circuit, the plug has the place for it and the light cluster has the normal UK euro spec bulb holders including the fog bulb holder, and the metal strips to the plugs but no wire in the plug.

So i had a dig under the dash and cant find a fog switch either...

Im assuming im looking for the yellow/amber switch??

Where would the switch normally be? and off which circuit should i take a live feed?

I do have a Mk 5 wiring diagram and it looks like the feed is taken from the same feed to the panel light dimmer switch. I assume therefore its on the sidelight circuit?

Anyone done this on an import before?😉👍

Yes the SA ones don't have the wiring,

The SWT  on European ones is on metal part of lower dash between console & column there should either be a round plastic blanking plug or indentation.

They should only work on side/dip beam.

If memory serves it's a triangular rubber plug I'll check crayford tomorrow, SWT  is a round orange one that lights up when on ( I've got some if you need one) might have plug with a bit of wiring.
