sierra3dr 53 Posted November 17, 2024 I don't know if I am having a blonde moment,my MK5 has stopped delivering fuel.I do have an inline filter so I can see if it fills, which it does not anymore. I have put on a new pump,no change. I have pulled out the pump pushrod and the length is about 44mm,which as we know,is for the 1.6 and the 50mm is for the 2 litre engines. And on mine there is no spacer. So,if the 2 litres had the spacers on,if they are 5mm thick, meaning the pump is 5mm further away from the rod
sheffieldcortinacentre 764 Posted November 18, 2024 Yes but I always thought the both use the spacer. Beaware that the cvh & cologne V6 pump looks identical & fit not sure it length varies ooh matron 2
sierra3dr 53 Posted November 19, 2024 I'm just thinking that quite possibly that the fuel sender might be corroded....Were all Cortinas fitted with transparent plastic tube on the fuel line?

I thought that the pump and pushrod were the same on all Pintos………..

sheffieldcortinacentre 764 Posted November 19, 2024 Fuel line was always black plastic with a short piece of black rubber at the join.

martog 149 Posted November 21, 2024 That clear plastic tube with the nylon weave in it is rubbish. It's a quick fix, but needs to be sorted with proper rubber fuel hose interconnector's between the metal and black plastic lines that run beneath the car.

Agree with the above ref the garden hose type stuff with the nylon weave through it.
