disco_monkey79 29 Posted March 14, 2025 Wasn;t sure if this was technical or more general chat. But... Has anyone fitted adjustable rear shocks to a road-going mk3/4/5? I need to replace what look very likely to be the ones mine left the factory with, and I am happy to pay the extra if it's worth it. I have never used adjustables, so am wary of wasting money on things that won't benefit me. Thanks
John Mack 329 Posted March 14, 2025 I've had Spax adjustables on the rear of mine for a long time now, springs are 1" lower too and the car handles well for what it is I think. Front have Gaz adjustables.
disco_monkey79 29 Posted March 14, 2025 Brill, thanks for the reply. Reckon I will go for it then. Cheers
sheffieldcortinacentre 741 Posted March 14, 2025 I've spax all round ,wether you need them is a matter of course, a decent set of gas shockers is definitely worthwhile addition more so than springs were a cortina is concerned also decent condition bushes.
disco_monkey79 29 Posted March 14, 2025 Thanks. Yeah, I have already polybushed the rear, and will be doing the same at the front when I work my way up there. I will be putting new springs on too, as I dare say the old ones are squishier now than they were when new.
dgo 80 Posted March 14, 2025 (edited) If I was to need to replace my shox I would go with Gaz rather than the Spax that are on at the moment Rally Design have the best prices I have found so far: - Front: Link - Rear: Link Edited March 14, 2025 by dgo
disco_monkey79 29 Posted March 19 Hiya all. So I went for Gaz adjustables, and spent the afternoon refitting the front suspension. I currently have it so the adjusting knob is facing outwards - is that how you all have it? Currently it is upper and lower wishbones, spring, shock and spindle, The adjuster is a bit fiddly to get to, and that;s without hub, disc, and backing plate, I just wanted to check how best to have it before I commit and bolt everything else back on. Thanks!

Whatever's easy...I know with my front, if I jack it up so the spring is extended then I can just fit my fingers in to adjust the knob.
