mk5 front brakes.

Pop the piston out and check inside the bore that there aint a build up of sludge.... use clean brake fluid as a lubricant and make sure the piston slides in smoothly..... sometimes a rusty piston can drag too....

i did exactly that earlier to my spare caliper....it's working after afashion but i wont rely on it . i can repeat the same with the one on the car whilst it is off, but if this proves sucessful in solving th eproblem, i'll be buying new anyway

I agree, its one or both pistons tight in the left caliper.

oddly, i checked out the caliper on the bench, the pistons popped out easily and were shiny and clean...  no matter, the substitute seems spot on, so i'll bear with it for a while. 

 

it's another task I've learned, satisfying not to have to pay the garage...i almost weakened
