I think you'd need the (5-speed) box from a V6 as if I remember right the input shaft is a different size ?......maybe.:tears:

Someone will confirm or otherwise

No you need the 4 speed from a 2.3 or 2.8 V6 , plus the flywheel, clutch, crankshaft pilot bearing, cortina V6 clutch cable,

a cortina manual Speedo cable, a manual gearbox crossmember ( boomerang shape) the clutch pedal & longer shaft, tube & piece of bulkhead ( for clutch cable) these five pieces from any manual mk3-4-5.

The original propshaft will work.

For a 5 speed

The type 9  ( with removable bellhousing) box from a 2.3/2.8 V6 sierra, Capri or MK2 Granada ( NOT a MK3 Granada as these have an electric Speedo drive requiring an expensive adaptor to use a cable) get the gear stick too as there different to 4 speed.

You then need rest of parts as above except crossmember as you need the original automatic cortina one & a 5 speed sierra Speedo cable ( as it's longer).

Original propshaft will fit.

4 cylinder boxes of both types Inc diesel have different input shaft (!to short) bellhousing ( different shape).

Also the all aluminium ( non removable bellhousing) MT75 gearbox from the 2.4/2.9 v6 Granada/Scorpio is more involved to fit.

It's all a bolt in conversion with either box.

Feel free to contact me re any further help/info.

What you will find swapping to a type 9 five speed is the crankshaft on the 2.3 engine won't accept a spigot/pilot bearing big enough for the five speed input shaft as it has a smaller bore so it won't be a straight forward swap.

I had this problem when I tried on my Mk4 and I know someone with a MK5 who encountered the same issue and had to have a Phosphor Bronze bush machined specially to do the conversion.

I have an engine from a manual 2.3 Cortina in the garage and the bearing in the end of the crank is smaller than that of a 2.8 five speed. The input shaft on a Cortina V6 4 speed box is smaller than a type 9 five speed.
