Wojtek 0 Posted September 30, 2025 Witam. Po długiej renowacji próbuję jezdzić swoją Cortiną. Niestety hamulce to porażka.

Despite the front discs, I am afraid to go out on the road. Despite the full pressure on the pedal, the effect is meager. I'm still looking for the possibility of mounting a servo. I even looked for electric ones. Unfortunately, the steering wheel is on the left side and I don't know how to fit the servo. Maybe someone has some experience in this matter. Help!!! If you have discs on the front , Cortinas do stop reasonably well if the system is working correctly but not to the standards of modern cars of course. I think your only option for a servo would be a remote one but they do come at a price !!
dgo 80 Posted October 2, 2025 I was looking at remote servos for a friend with a project car recently. The best value remote servo kit we found comes from a classic mini supplier in Birmingham if that's of any use: Link

I haven't owned a Cortina 1, but I've heard that the Taunus TC1/2/3 system fits with minor modifications. I don't know how much truth there is to that. You have to buy the servo from a European manufacturer, although I don't see why a servo from another car wouldn't fit. sheffieldcortinacentre 753 Posted December 4, 2025 Any inline servo is to big to fit in the corner of engine bay on mk1-2 & is why they have a remote one, some (LHD) export ones had a similar setup to the mk1-2 escort were it's mounted on a long extension placing it near the front of bay. But I'm not very knowledgeable on mk1-2 though so don't know if this would work on rhd , a different master cylinder wouldn't be to hard to fit. I don't think the servo will improve the braking, I'd consider bigger Capri vented discs and bigger calipers or something alon g those lines. I would try someone like Burton Power to see if they do a conversion kit. Edited December 14, 2025 by C0RKTINA
sheffieldcortinacentre 753 Posted December 14, 2025 I'm not up on mk1-2's. Like the mk3-4-5 fit Capri 2.8i vented discs & MK2 Granada 2.8 calipers just needs some longer mounting bolts & washers to centralise the calipers ( remove back plates to clear the thicker disc) & Change brake pipe union to metric.
