Beeper 81 Posted November 19, 2025 How much would a respray for a Mk3 cost. I'm not looking for a 'Car SOS' or 'Hammonds Workshop' quality job. Just a good tidy up. Sort a couple of rusty patches that have appeared from sitting in the leaky garage and tidy up the flakey bits on some of the wheel arches? I have a renewed interest in the car since I got it running again.
sheffieldcortinacentre 741 Posted November 19, 2025 How long is a piece of string, you'll probably have more trouble finding some one willing to do it, doubtful anyone will quote without seeing job & like welding what you can see will be the tip of the iceberg. Beeper 81 Posted November 19, 2025 (edited) Well let's hope it's the iceberg that hit the Titanic. That one was ready to roll over apparently, so smaller under the water than you'd think. So how about I do it with a tin of coach paint and a sponge roller? That's how I did my old VW camper and that wasn't too bad. Not great by a long shot, but better than the previous paint, applied with a butter knife I think! Edited November 19, 2025 by Beeper

STEVE440 12 Posted November 20, 2025 A friend of mine who has a body shop reckons you need to look at between £300 and £500 a panel. The lower price is for minimal preparation so with minor dents and scuffs and the higher number for a car that needs work on every panel. The problem is the cost of the materials these days. The day of the £1500 respray has gone sadly, if anyone actually quotes you that little I suggest you ask to look at previous work.
