Schaevertje 1 Posted March 1 (edited) A little while ago, i found 2 front Recaro seats that came out of a 4 door Taunus TC2/Cortina mk4. I bought the pair for only 50 euros. They have Taunus/Cortina runners welded under them. I first thought they originally came out of a Capri. But if i compare pictures from Capri's with Recaro's they look different. And as far as i know, Recaro's from the 70's for Ford always had fishnet headrests... Im starting to think they come from another car brand. I think it might be from a BMW E21 if i Google about old Recaro seats. There are no labels or anything to be found on this pair of seats. Cortina/Taunus runners are welded under them. But if you look at Recaro's for an E21, the knob for adjusting the back of the seat is different. The seats i have do have a Ford style turning knob. So i am a bit confused... What do you guys think? sheffieldcortinacentre 741 Posted March 2 Yes it looks ford , could they be mk3-4 Escort, but I don't recognise the material. I had some Opel manta ones recovered in black vynil to match the rear seat in a MK3 cortina they had similar headrests & I swapped the round seat adjusters to ford type. Do they have twin tipping release levers as I think they were introduced in the 80s.
TIB3300 447 Posted March 3 (edited) I would say vauxhall Opel Edited March 3 by TIB3300
John Mack 329 Posted March 3 I think whatever they are they've been re-trimmed as the "shoulders" of the seat back are rounded....they should be almost square. The cog like adjuster for the seat back is definitely Ford.....not GM/Opel My tuppence worth is they are re-covered Ford Recaros.
sheffieldcortinacentre 741 Posted March 3 Could be, most of this style/model are from the mid 80s so circa 40 years old .

When Recaros were Recaros.....they looked something special against the run of the mill standard seat. I've seen their later branded seats in the likes of Audi RS, Focus RS, Corsa VXR and such..... they don't do it for me. Give me an old school Recaro anyday
