Jowjup 1 Posted April 7 Resurrecting a LHD 64 Mk1a 4dr deluxe for fast road use here in Montana USA. Need advice and parts to convert front drums to discs for this project. Nothing available locally of course. Have heard there are options to accomplish this but looking for definitive course of action from someone in the know. I already have a hot crossflow 1.6L and a T9. Just want to build this car so that it will stop and handle as well as it goes. Jowjup 1 Posted April 7 Yes I've looked over the offerings there (expensive) but I'm looking to do this with original parts. Someone must have a stash somewhere.
dgo 80 Posted April 7 Have you tried the MK1 Cortina club: https://mk1cortina.club/
Lotuscops 80 Posted April 7 Get yourself a pair of Mk1 disc struts on Facebook Marketplace or Ebay for about £100 and add a pair of P16 Calipers which are also freely available. Postage is going to be lumpy though. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1427238308595083/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Aee5819f8-f8a6-4ac4-a630-946a79241897

I believe I have to buy a membership for that club...not a big deal...just thought I'd try this avenue first. I did converse with an ebay lister regarding a set of mk1 disc brake front struts but I thought they were expensive for how rusty they were (backing plates partially rusted away so who knows the true condition) and shipping was more than the parts. Jowjup 1 Posted April 7 Thank you Lotuscops. This exactly the way I would like to proceed. Period parts and larger calipers. I see there are suppliers of new p16 calipers so that's easy. Now if I could locate a decent pair of the disc brake struts....so far have not been able to locate. Seems odd with so many of these cortinas produced back in the 60s but maybe the majority were drums. I will endeavor to persevere. I'll find a pair eventually. If anyone reading this has a lead, please let me know. Thanks. John
Jowjup 1 Posted April 7 I got that Facebook link to work finally. Sent the lister a message. Will see what happens. Thanks Lotuscops

Lotuscops 80 Posted Saturday at 12:16 PM Anither set for sale by friend of mine. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2237606370105170/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A3aee0620-32c9-47ac-9595-df7ebd58ed04
Jowjup 1 Posted Saturday at 04:35 PM Thanks Lotuscops. Exactly what I need. But same issue with them. Collection only.
Jowjup 1 Posted Saturday at 05:43 PM I dont understand why Facebook sellers specify collection only and won't ship to USA. Is it that much of a hassle and requires too much time to package and fill out a bit if paperwork? Just add it to the shipping cost. I must be missing something. If i was you i would contact seller and ask them if they would post and that you will pay the postage and an extra £10/20 for the hassle.

It is a bit of a hassle but then you can't expect every potential buyer to be on your doorstep .
