Window scrapers

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I've ordered some window scrapers to replace the brittle cracked ones on my mk 4. Any tips for fitting them, e.g. does the window glass need to cone out?

On a related note, having examined the inside of one of the doors, it looks like the clear plastic sheeting that sits under the door cards is ripped & shredded. Is replacement of this just a case getting some heavy duty plastic sheet and sticking it on?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Cheers

Jim

No glass doesn't have to come out the strips are held in by clips use a flat blade screw driver to ease the spring clips open then pull strip up.

You'll have to work your way along two or three times so you don't break the clips.

Yes replace the plastic sheet with something similar hardest part is getting the sealer of use a heat gun & scraper.

Thanks once again Craig.

Is it the same drill on the rear windows, as they don't fully drop?

Yes bit more tricky due to window as you say.

I've replaced the scrapers now, it was surprisingly straightforward to do. The only problem I had was that the old scrapers were very brittle and had a metal insert that in each one was badly corroded.

Once removed, the new scrapers plopped in nicely 🙂
