Mk5 Front seats in Mk3 Pre facelift

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Quick query - am I right in remembering that later front seats are wider at the back & as such, don't  leave enough room to shut the door on Pre facelift mk3 XL door cards (due to armrests)? Only I'm  toying with the idea of proper headrests & I always have (tiger fur) seat covers on.......

Cheers, just seemed to remember fitting/swapping for Mk4 Ghia seats many moons ago (from mates car while he wasn't looking) only to find that they fitted ok, but I couldn't close the doors unless I removed the door cards... Will take a punt & try them out

Strange as the square MK4 Ghia seats are the MK3 2000E seats.

Interesting to know. But the 2000E is Facelift & as such, different door cards and don't have the armrest right to the door edge like a pre facelift (well, at least more inline with the seat bolster as opposed to facelift ones). Either way, fingers crossed I pick them up OK and if needs be, I might have to think ( or have an excuse)about making some......... Tigerskin door cards!........:magic:

Yep but again didn't think the armrests came at that much.

Also the E/Ghia seat goes right back to the XL/GXL seat, I've fitted all sorts in them over the years the leather ones from the rover 216 vaden plastic ( hyacinth bucket version) were a good fit & Ive had Granada Scorpio leather seats in my 72 EST for nieghon 20 years.
