First registered in the UK on 1st January 1967, this Ford Cortina Mk2 was originally finished in Bronze but today presents in striking, period-inspired race livery.

Repainted around 2012 in the iconic ‘Cortina Lotus’ Team Lotus Works colours of 1967, the car carries Graham Hill’s race number ‘105’ as a tribute to his entry at the 1967 Oulton Park Gold Cup. The overall effect is a convincing and well-executed homage, with details such as the correct race and registration number placement, Minilite-style wheels and a bumper delete all contributing to its authentic competition appearance.

Inside, the car features a period-correct black vinyl interior, complemented by a 1600E-specification dashboard. The vendor describes the interior condition as very good to good, in keeping with the car’s wonderful character. The ownership history is particularly appealing, with just two former keepers and the current owner having enjoyed the car for the past 18 years.

At its heart, the car remains a 1967 Cortina Mk2, powered by a 1600cc inline four-cylinder engine and a Series 1 bodyshell. It has been modified and upgraded in period-style by a previous owner, incorporating elements from the later Series 2 model, including the GT dashboard and wiring loom.

Practical and safety-focused enhancements include relocating the battery to the boot, along with the addition of a power cut-off switch, and a firewalled rear compartment with a metal panel behind the rear seat. Further upgrades include an improved braking system, with vented front discs, Wilwood four-pot callipers and 9-inch rear brake drums.

The  car retains all of its original body panels and has not required welding to the floorpans, sills or outriggers. It is supplied with a quantity of MOT history and benefits from a current MOT valid until July 2027. Altogether, this Cortina Mk2 represents a highly appealing tribute to a famous period competition car, combining authentic styling, sympathetic upgrades and long-term ownership to create a car that would be certain conversation piece.
