Neil. 118 Posted November 2, 2005 Had this shell for a while & was going to cut it up & use it for restoring the Savage that I'm sold to Darren. Anyway after getting it out of the garage & looking at it for the first time in 15 years - it's too good to cut up. So we're setting about restoring it - not sure what engine to put in it yet as it's a column shift Auto with bench seats & I'd like to keep the bench seat, so I guess I can not put a manual box in there. Few pics for you - rear end on the spit Inside Front Underside
Neil. 118 Posted November 2, 2005 More of the underside Jacking point

Neil. 118 Posted November 2, 2005 As you can see the outer wheel housing is rotten on the outer lip. I did have a replacement wheel housing from Expressed but it's not the best fitting panel I've ever seen  Therefore we've decided to make up some new inner arches by hand - these are done on two sections to make it easier to get the curve of the wheel arch. Inner wheel arch & outer wheel arch temporarily fitted in place to check fit The outer wheel arch that we bought also is not the best of fit - so we decided to cut the wheel arch out of an NOS rear wing - which is rotten everywhere else Sorry about this photo - it's as much as I could get in as the camera is hard against the ceiling of the garage. This is the wing it is off
Neil. 118 Posted November 2, 2005 Couple more of the old wing showing the holes in it
Neil. 118 Posted November 10, 2005 Inner wheel arch repaired, old outer arch cut away ready for new one. Outer arch has had the edge joggled so it fits inside the wing to give a better finish.

Very nice repair on the arches by the way. 94222[/snapback] It does have the bigger tunnel It's amazing to watch my Dad make the inner arches - starts off with a flat bit of metal & ends up with something that matches the wheels arch of the wing perfectly. Seen him do similar plenty of times but still not sure how. Seen him do mk2 inner wings by hand too!!

Neil. 118 Posted November 14, 2005 Cheers guys - wish I could take some credit for it but it's my Dad thats done all the hard work up to press. All I've done is help build the roll over jig - If we find the car on the floor one morning then I'll know my first attempt at welding wasn't good enough!! His trade is really sheet metal worker, so he's really talented when it comes to sorting out problems or producing parts from nothing.
