    May sell

Thinking of selling my MK3 ,it needs work and odd jobs still doing , nothing major , not sure of the value, agreed insurance is £17,000
  2. Double check timing, fuel pump is working , and that battery doesn't sound like it's got much in, really makes a difference
  3. Cheers for that mate, I jacked up the car to check, I've replaced the gearbox mount , and I noticed the sump was touching the cradle, I've now fitted 50 mm mounts,( rubber )maybe the pinto engine is out of a transit or which ever use the deeper sump, it's now clear , haven't tryed it yet as I'm awaiting new water hoses to come , will update when I know 👍
  4. I've just remembered I didn't fit the sandwich plate , maybe it's to tight ,??????
  5. I took the ones off the 1.6 , was ok on on that , makes sense on what your saying
  6. Hmmmm just rocked the engine and I can see the gearbox moving, think I'm going to replace the mount there. I used the original one, does anyone have the non banana one that matches the type 9 box ?
  7. Ok on tick over, comes in at about 3 mph , changes through rev range, oddly goes away at 70,mph , thanks for your reply
  8. Hi all, since fitting the 2.0 , I'm getting vibrations, seems to be coming right through the bulk head, I have a new one piece prop, so I know that's ok , engine mounts are new, I am wondering if having the flywheel skimmed is causing it , no clutch or pedal judder , but thinking this is all it could be? Thoughts please (anyone got a good 2.0 flywheel?)
  9. I'd have used more explicit words 🤣
  10. Just to close this, I ended up taking the engine out and stripped it, I'm 99% sure the piston ring set I bought off eBay was a Jaffa, as the bottom scraper rings weren't protruding enough and not really doing anything, I only worked this out, when rebuilding my new engine, this time I used Mahle ring set, no oil issues👍
  11. Thanks lads, I've got a Bosch 075 now £72 all in , 👍
  12. Hi what's the battery that should be on a 2.0 MK3 ? It's gotta be a round lug, thanks
  13. So having had the Cortina with it's oil burning problem, I decided to take the rebuilt engine back out, looks like the piston ring set I bought on eBay was a jaffer, the oil scraper rings weren't doing anything. So I bought a 2.0 pinto, new Mahle rings, shells n bearings, re honed the bores n rebuilt, skimmed flywheel, new cam, clutch n gasket set finally back in today , will fit manifolds tomorrow n see how it runs👍
  14. I've got the standard one in now ,I wasn't accounting for the dizzy sleeve fitting down to the pump , mine wouldn't fit with the washer on though
  15. Don't think it has moved, I'll just take it off I think, cheers lad 👍
  16. Hi , my 1600 pinto oil drive bar, seems to short for my 2.0 pinto engine, the star washer a quarter of the down is on there, can I just take this off, or is there two different sized hexagon shafts ? Thanks
  17. I can't find my .in manual, does anyone know the main bearing caps and Conrod caps settings?also is there a gasket for the oil pump to the block ??? Thanks if you can help 👍
  18. So oil usage issue, took engine back out n stripped, top two rings all good fitment and condition, lower scraper rings I noticed there virtually level with the piston, so I'm assuming there doing nothing. I bought the ring kit off eBay, I can't remember the make , but there definitely not like the Mahle ring set I've just bought for the 2.0 im rebuilding. Either I've bought the wrong ring set or it's an eBay jaffer
  19. No worries mate, appreciate it, it's a constant light haze , the old head was damaged, so got a second hand one , as my old valves were cleaned up I just relapped n.used again, maybe a mistake, not measured how much , no smoke on start up , I get it could be from brake servo, but doesn't explain oil consumption, I'll smell the service exhaust tomorrow 👍
  20. Thanks lad, but why's the old gal using a bit to much oil?
  21. Hello mate, well the old gals still hazy, not lots, but still using a bit of oil, pulls really well I've just remembered I used another set of valves from a previous head, I'm now thinking this could be the problem, I did regrind the valves in , Im thinking more valve guides......thoughts?
  22. Oh bugger , I was hoping it was missing
  23. Yes mate , it's fitted and operates as it should, I'm not sure if the housing it fits in is supposed to have gauze inside????, mines open with none
