  1. thanks to you all for your advice i am going to symmons yat so will look there for parts
  2. I think these are very dear, its a great idea to have rack and pinion steering but a price tag of £600 plus parts is a bit extreme. i know what you mean but it sounds to be an easy fit and it takes the guess work out of it trying to find out what parts to get
  3. Hi, I was thinking of buying a kit from Old Ford to convert my Mk 2 Cortina to steering rack . Just wondered if anyone has bought such a kit or , even better, got any pictures of it.

  12. Hi all, I have decided that I am going to put a 2ltr Pinto with the 5 speed into my Cortina. I have found a Sierra for £150 it has a 205 block sounds ok but I will strip it anyway just to be sure. Been down that road before. I bet this has been done several times before and I was after some advice as to what I would need to source. I am going to strip the Sierra on Wednesday so any advice would be great. I am going to try to keep the hydraulic clutch which should be easy enough. Famous last words. While I am at it I would like to fit a steering rack. I have read somewere a Capri cross member is required. Is this right? if so I will have to get one. Do you have to cut the tunnel or does the box fit in ok. Any advice would be greatfully received. If any one wants a 1600 cross flow with 4spd box let me know Cheers trev
  13. Its funny what some mot testers advise on. The cortina i just bought had one saying the car had underseal underneath, where was he expecting to find it?
  14. Hi my name is trev and i have just joined the website. i live in exeter and i have just bought a '68 mk2 1600 super. the panels are arrow straight it just needs a new paint job. i have have several cortinas in the past (mk1,2,3,4) just looking forward to getting it sorted out. i am just in the middle of putting the engine back into my '65 mustang so once thats done i can get the cortina in the garage and start it. bought the car tuesday, drove it home 180 miles, in the pouring rain and it didn't miss a beat. its only got 34,000 miles on the clock with mot's to verify this. anyway better not rattle on as this is the first post i have put on. cheers for now trev
