  1. The one in my pre-facelift came from a German Taunus TC, they had the 2.0 Cologne V6.
  2. Yup, Carbed 4.6 - the essex is a nice engine, but you get used to the power and they are expensive to tune. The silicon hoses are just angles with alloy joiners. I tried the Capri hoses first, they are similar but not quite right.
  3. Having finally talked myself into fitting a V8 the following will be available within the next month or so. Basically the complete package ready to drop in, nothing needs cutting or welding - it literally is plug and play. The conversion was done to a good standard (if I say so myself) compared to some of the shonky efforts I've seen over the years. The engine sits low down and as far back as is possible. The only bit not included in the exhaust, I can include a two into one system that follows the standard cars original exhaust path but you would have to make a section to bridge the exhaust to the manifold, which would probably be an hours work at an exhaust place. Can be heard running, and test driven if you wish. I'm looking for £2,000 for everything as a package, to find all the parts in one place, in this condition, with all the guess work removed more than justifies the asking price. Essex V6 3.0 Engine Good oil pressure Compression even across all cylinders Waterpump/Alternator were new No Leaks or Blue Smoke Runs perfectly (and cool) New Manual Choke 38 DGMS (Supplied by Webcon) Accuspark Electronic Ignition Supplied with black silicon coolant/heater hoses. Speedo/Clutch/Accelerator Cables included Powder Coated Air Filter Pan. Type 5 Four Speed Gearbox No Leaks No Whines Recent oil and gaskets. Clutch has only covered a few thousand miles. Starter Motor Capri 3.0 Big Header Radiator - Recored and number of rows increased. Exhaust Manifolds - Capri Tubular with drivers side modified to clear the steering, fitted with V-Band exhaust clamps rather than the standard leaky ring gaskets. Propshaft - Professionally built and balanced by Dunning & Fairbank in Leeds. Subframe & Engine/Gearbox Mounts - Similar in design to the escort world cup x-member, built to a good standard. Rev Counter - 6 Cylinder Pre-Factlift Tacho from a Taunus
  4. I think it's value is probably more like £500 given what's missing, looks quite solid though which is a bonus. The parts are probably going to cost 500-700, most of that being the engine/box to be honest.
  5. Can I please have a look at the routing of the rear exhaust as I am having problems. 01287632560

  6. Small update that may be of some use to someone doing a V6 conversion. Finally upgraded the Rev Counter from the aftermarket one to a Genuine Ford gauge from a Taunus TC1 V6. The clocks cost half what speedy cables were asking to recalibrate and the red line is correct for the V6.
  7. Inaccurately in what way? I know the standard ones wont work correctly, the clocks in my car are from a Taunus (TC1) V6. I think I may just bin the Accuspark to be honest, I had the engine tuned by a fairly highly regarded old school engine tuner/racer (Ron Harper) earlier in the year and he commented that the dwell angle varied by about 3 degrees, which makes a mockery of the brand name really.
  8. I read the post, seems like a bit of a pipe dream.... The question really was, does the Accuspark work with the pre-facelift tacho, if not I will just bin it and go back to points.
  9. I've got an Accuspark system fitted to my Essex V6 in my PreFacelift Mk3, the standard rev counter does not work. Tested all the wires for continuity and everything checks out, just wondering if this was a known issue. I've tried a couple of sets of clocks and get nothing from any of them.
  10. I knew Cortina-City would have a video, I had a look but couldn't find one. The finish looks really good with the Vinylcote paint!
  11. I'm wanting to paint the centre console on my Mk3. I'm not sure what the original finish is but I am looking to get as close to that as possible. Wondering if anyone else has attempted it and had decent results? my fear is anything I put on will potentially not be as hard wearing as the original finish and look worse.
  12. Does anyone know which version of the Haynes has the wiring diagram for the Mk3 GT/GXL. I've got several different versions of the manual, none of which actually have the wiring for that specific model though.
  13. Decent job on the headlining, hands down the worst job I've ever had to do on a Cortina!
  14. Is the boot carpet a standard item on the facelift cars? I've only ever seen the foam/rubber type.
