nmonkey220 23 Posted February 23, 2008 Has anyone had a 2.8 v6 that struggles to start when it is warm?? Mine starts first time when cold but seems to struggle when she's been running a while? Any ideas please
sheffieldcortinacentre 531 Posted February 23, 2008 its something to do with the extra injector & some other bits that are working (richening mixture) when warm instead of just when cold. not into these engs.

CorKtina 17 Posted February 24, 2008 mine is on a carb and starts fine cold or hot....with no choke.... could yours be fuel vaporisation?
nmonkey220 23 Posted February 24, 2008 mine is on a carb and starts fine cold or hot....with no choke.... could yours be fuel vaporisation? possibly i'm needing to get an insulating block to go between the carb and the inlet manifold. Worst case could it be head gaskets?

Dave A 17 Posted March 2, 2008 If it is worse after a 15 minute hot soak then it is probably fuel vapourization. An insulating block may help however this can also be due to the engine running too hot or carb is just leaking fuel into engine after shutdown for some reason. nmonkey220 23 Posted March 2, 2008 it's no longer a problem anymore it won't start at all now. It's looking like the head gasket has gone so it's time for a quick rebuild to get her back on the road while i sort out a full strip on my spare engine then i'll swap them over
