    Mk 2

The int trim code on this North American spec Series 1 Mk 2 has a weird trim code that reads SPCL. Like the U.K. spec the int trim code should start with a letter and followed by 3 digits such as C040 and the like. Has anyone seen this before?
  3. Well the Lotus was sold to a chap in Medicine Hat, Alberta who is the present owner. The car came up on an English Ford site in the U.S. www. Enfostuff.com
  4. These wires (white with a red stripe) are the ones that get power in the start position and would join to a short harness running to the neutral safety switch on the gearbox if it were an automatic to inhibit starter engagement when not in park or neutral. In the case of a manual gearbox the two wires are plugged together as shown.
  5. We used to have Woolworths here in Canada too but I dont think they have been around since the eighties or so.
  6. I used a Mitsubishi master cyl from a Dodge Colt on one of my Mk 2's. The mounting holes had to be enlarged slightly and I had to rig up the push rod but all in all it works very well and is a more reliable unit in this climate. You should be able to locate one on e-bay. As far as rear brakes go, Mk 1 Capri 4 cyl will be 9 X 1 3/4" and are the same as a GT. V6 model Capri (mk 1) came with 9 X 2 1/4" if you can find them and should be a direct bolt on.

I clicked on the pic to view the full size image and the car is absolutely stunning!!!!
  13.  I might have to try that. My wife would be delighted to hear me firing up the washing machine-bet she'd be up out of bed to the thumping and banging once it hits the agitation cycle tho....
  14. They sound like the correct ones for 68-70 models-units with the rubber packed top mount. Early Mk 2's (1967) utilized the roller top type mounts and the body length of the insert is longer by about 3/4" and the threaded part at the top of the shaft is shorter and fatter to fit the roller tops. You should trial fit an insert into one of your legs to make sure-it should sit about level (or slightly higher) with the top of the outer body. The threaded castle nut from Capri, Escort etc will fit as well.
  15. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the soft trim (cat whisker) seal that goes between the door glass and the inside of the door is available anywhere? Thanks in advance Dave
  16. There are usually a set on ebay.
  17. Looks like a fine job you are doing there! Keep the pics coming!!!

    Windscreen

The front screen seal that you got off ebay, was it one of the Aussie ones? The one I got for my car came from Burton Power and fit real good.
  19. Very solid looking car car there. As bodywork goes, for me at least, when you think you are going to be done in a few weeks it usually turns into a few months. Good luck with her and keep the pics coming.
  20. I'm not sure what happened with the Lotus or the first two cars. They were brought to my attention by Pintony on here who suddenly stopped answering PM's and coming on here. All I know was the Lotus was on ebay and was located in the state of Washington. The other two were in California. I hope they went to a good home. I'll put a posting on enfostuff.com and see if anyone on there knows the whereabouts of the cars.

    mk1 lotus

Well this is the third time the car has been listed on ebay. It reached 25,000 the first time and reserve was not met. I read in one ad that they were asking 40,000 U.S. Dollars. I would have taken the 25,000 if it was me as i doubt that it will reach that level again. The car is from a dry part of the world and is very rust free for it's age but is also very beat up and will need alot of work.
  23. Although I never met Dave in person, I had a few e-mails and chats with him on here and I knew what a big part of the Cortina scene he has been over the years. I am deeply saddened at his passing and wished I could have met him in person. I understand what a huge loss he is to the Cortina world, family and loved ones left behind. RIP Dave.
  24. I see your a loyal Ford guy Flyrr! :juggle:
