See you Sunday Jayne

Yup, see you then.

I dropped off PAL this morning.

Mk3 club stand is going to look good!

A close-up of the loaded roof rack. The two wheels fitted on fine (thanks Noge and Chris Mk3!) though these are 165/55 tyres though, it remains to be seen if 185/65 will fit.

Also, I found a heavy duty antenna mount, which I've clamped on to the roof basket - it lifts the antenna nearly a metre higher in the air which will help transmission range. It is also a more reassuring position as my head isn't in the way of the radiating waves.

No trailers for us - Mark & I met up in what seemed to me (not a morning person) like the middle of the night, and we drove M5/M42 up to the NEC.

and Gary drove up from London somehow keeping OJO immaculate.

Likewise. Thanks again for helping with the roof rack!

Proper cars dont need trailers

I'd make allowances for someone with a very underpowered car, or one that is insanely expensive to run. My friend had a Ferrari and virtually every service was engine-out for new cambelts. But in general it is much nicer to see them being driven.

We did look at moving PAL on a trailer for track days - so SWMBO could haul it to the track and I would be fresh on the track, no having already spent three hours driving. But it made everything more complicated and although we've got a fair sized yard, access isn't so good for a car trailer.

Finally, big thanks for MarkyMark for getting me a photo of Fuzz with PAL: :winner:

Just got back from the NEC, well done to everybody involved with the Mk3 stand. All the Cortinas were even better than I had expected, and have made me even more determined to get mine finished!

Well done!

just remember though - you dont have to do yours to that standard if its on the road and driving its fine . its nice to have the best but some people give up because they feel they need their car to be as good as those at the show and cant achieve it.

Been down to the NEC Today, saw the car for the first time, its really looking good 👍

It felt weird seeing it as it was built up bit by bit on the forum so I regognised small details like the roll bar hole things in red.

Looks ready to roll just sat there, good to see it at last.

Yep, you either need to dedicate a lot of time, a lot of money or a fair lump of each to achieve the best, then there is the skill & finallly the luck tracing the right bits, often nos or barely used. I think it's not something everyone can achieve so just invest the energy into making a car a good as you can and that is all you and anybody else could expect. :)

I was talking with one guy about PAL today and he asked where the livery came from so I went through what I knew from the thread and it turned out he used to be the head of marketing for Kodac UK and he was so pleased to see the livery on the car and you had got it just right he said " I would of had it just like that if we had, had a rally team " " the whole car looks the part and is a credit to the owners determination "

I have had a lot of people asking about PAL almost as many as asking about Ruby ir's a very popular car Jayne well done.

How cool is that?! I wish I'd been there to talk with him.

Thanks for your kind words. I remember about halfway through the project there were calls for some pictures of the whole car. But it's easy to get focussed on small parts.

I think to, build the car that you want. The panel gaps on PAL are a bit generous and the rattle can paint job is a bit dodgy in places, but I was more interested in the performance of the car, and the overall 'look'.
