Deano66 205 Posted August 29, 2018 Hi,do any of you guys & girls know how i can find out which garage supplied my car from new ??I got the history from DVLA a long time ago,but it only shows the former keepers, not the supplying dealer.Reg number begins WRR & RR is a Nottingham registration, comfirmed with DVLA records, first keeper was a company in Scarborough.I have contacted Sandicliffe Ford in Nottingham, but their records don't go that far back. Thanks in advance for any ideas.Cheers,Dean. Colr6 16 Posted August 29, 2018 Just found this it may be of some help if the info you require is prior to the DVLA. you have no documentation, you may be able to obtain a certified copy of the entry in the local authority register that was made when the number was first allocated. Although many of these old records have been destroyed, some have been kept in local authority archives and others have been rescued by specialist organisations such as the Kithead Trust. You can find out if the register recording your vehicle’s original registration still exists by going to the Kithead Trust’s web site www.kitheadtrust.org.uk – this gives a list showing the location of the registers that are known to have survived. Danish 294 Posted August 30, 2018 I have contacted Sandicliffe Ford in Nottingham, but their records don't go that far back. PAL's -AL registration is Nottingham as well. I did a bit of research and if I assume the original car came from a main dealer then it was almost certainly Sandicliffe. DMB made me up a pair of dealer plates, rear window sticker and tax disc holder.
RichardJ 58 Posted August 31, 2018 Sorry to hijack, but can you still get the previous owner information and vehicle history from the DVLA, and how do you go about getting it? Thanks Rich

Lobby 99 Posted August 31, 2018 Sorry to hijack, but can you still get the previous owner information and vehicle history from the DVLA, and how do you go about getting it? Thanks Rich I think they stopped offering that service when data protection laws recently changed.
Danish 294 Posted August 31, 2018 I think they stopped offering that service when data protection laws recently changed. I heard that. I got details for my Jaguar last year, I specifically asked only for details of reported changes of colour, but they sent the usual set of documents showing previous owners. vandalism 6 Posted September 4, 2018 its a bit tricky woth no info unfortunately, theres no real way to know for sure as there where probably many different dealers in one area, ive collected lots of old paperwork/dealer headed paper and i suggested that i could re produce bills of sale ect for show purposes but sort of got shot down a bit as people saw it as "fake history" have some sandcliff paperwork somewhere danish ;)
John Mack 246 Posted September 5, 2018 DMB made me up a pair of dealer plates, rear window sticker and tax disc holder. They've done a few sets for me in the past, sadly when I enquired about plates recently they replied that they weren't doing them anymore? A shame, their quality was excellent. vandalism 6 Posted September 5, 2018 i made my own dealer logo for a number plate and printed it out onto water slide transfer paper and applied it to the plate, worked well so could be an alternative if theyre giving up
kenbex522 34 Posted September 5, 2018 They've done a few sets for me in the past, sadly when I enquired about plates recently they replied that they weren't doing them anymore? A shame, their quality was excellent. Yea I wondered what was going on. One rear screen dealer sticker I wanted was only available with the tax disc and numberplate set and they wouldn't do it separately. I happened to be perusing on their website recently for something else and noticed it was now available on its own without the numberplate set. Maybe DVLA have clamped down on them for whatever reason though I always thought they were classed as show plates.
