TIB3300 392 Posted May 5, 2015 black powder coat? I do like powder coating  But its not always necessary, as paint will do the same job. The thing with powder coating its quite brittle and can chip,if they put a lot on and you put a screw through a hole, where the hole is now smaller because of the coatingIt can crack the powder coating . ChristinaGXL 23 Posted May 5, 2015 About the backing plates, I was wondering about ceramic coating? I've heard mixed reviews about powder coating, like chipping and as the headlight plates are in a pretty vulnerable position would ceramic coating work? Duke Blues 15 Posted May 5, 2015 Thanks guys. I'm not keen on the powder coating idea, Just a good coat of paint should do the trick. I adjusted the bonnet cable as much as i could but it was still too slack. But i may try to shorten it. Working on the car is very satisfying (And not too cheap :( ) But I'm in no rush as i want to take the time to make sure that i am satisfied with the end result. I am working extra weekends to keep on top of the budget which impacts on garage time but i think that you always appreciate something that you have earned. Thanks you for your comments and your help. I really do appreciate it. Graham

Duke Blues 15 Posted May 28, 2015 what a crazy week this is :clown: this is my first week off this year and it's been very busy so far. my wife and i spent the weekend buzzing around the Yorkshire dales and having a damn good time of it too. :car: but Tuesday saw me back in the garage getting the car ready to be transported to ........ you'll notice that in the picture i had forgotten to remove the wheel arch trim which was only clamped into place  after that i spent the rest of the day tidying the garage and making it ready for the cars return. ( 11 Hrs  ) Wednesday i was sorting and cleaning bits ready to go back onto the car including the front and rear screens. i have 3 front screens but one of them has too many scratches so that one is out. the other 2 are 1 toughened glass and 1 laminated. both have the odd marks and scratches but a new one has to be ordered well in advance and costs around 180 pounds plus fitting. to be honest i would have paid the 180 but i need the screen in tomorrow :tears: today i made a mad dash out to Mk1 Madness in Castleford to drop my seats and door cards for a little work ready for re fitting later in the year. then it was off to D.L.Barr with the windscreens ready for the screen fitter to fit tomorrow and take a sneaky peek at my cars new headlining and vinyl roof.
Duke Blues 15 Posted May 28, 2015 i had a windscreen fitter lined up for tomorrow but when i rang them today they fobbed me off with excuses so i had a frantic ring round to find another screen fitter. all being well the screens will be fitted tomorrow so i will post some pictures in due course. other than that my tatty old wheels are going to Wheel em in tomorrow for re furbishing..... they are going to remove all the old tyres then shot blast them and re paint them ( 190 pounds ) then a new set of tyres :shocking: things are starting to get pricey :shocking: thanks for looking, Graham.
