Creating DIN brake flares
bortaf replied to disco_monkey79's topic in Suspension, Steering, & Brakes
bit late to this but i just had to learn all this DIN Vs SAE on mates anglia, basicly DIN are flat on the inner face, the outer face is ni on the same (see pic below), it seems as long as the union matches the flair you can mix and match SAE and DIN unions as the threads are the same and the outer mating faces are the same or close enough to seal ok which is how a lot 60s cars are apparently (as i just found out), we basicly redid all the unions in DIN as we replaced all the brake lines and fittings. gotta say never knew half of this myself. -
where are you earthing the temp cable ? just asking incase the small earth is missing on the rear of the head and the head isn't referanced to neutral ?

yup sometimes i'm embarrassed to admit i once proof read the entire factory workshop manual
-
idle it for 20 to 30 mins with water and dishwasher tablets in there, drain and flush with water a few times, if you have a condensing tumble dryer, use water from that. You need to get a head gasket test kit (about a tenna on Am or egay) and lidle do a good laser temp gun, usefull for checking stat temp operating ect, i think i paid £15 for mine ?

Check fuse 6 for resistance and check for green snot around the 2 bulkhead loom plugs below the fuse box, if you can pull them appart and clean the contacts, they can very! hard to pull appart. As an aside the haynes manual is an exact copy of the factory manual.

bortaf replied to Beeper's topic in Ford Cortina Discussion
any decent spares shop should be able to get one localy ? mine cant be all that differant, i walked in 2 weeks ago and bought a starter for a pre crossflow, took 6 hours to get to the spares counter from thier supplyer ?? -
Ashley does some good vids, this isn't one of them, the trouble with youtubers is the pressure to keep pumping out videos, usually pushing them into areas they are not really into, making for uncomfortable videos like this, he 's winging it and it shows/ Nice car mind you

lips on the cap worn where the clip snaps over? i've loads of loose clips, just gave em a slight bending to tighten them up, mind you nowdays it could be a shoddy out of spec cap that makes them loose so give the clips a wee bending? as long as they snap over the lip they should hold ok ?
